Marca reports that there are several different reasons why Real Madrid are first in line to pick up, Gareth Bale:

1. Real Madrid and Tottenham have an excellent relationship. They have previously bought from each other (Van der Vaart, Adebayor and Modric) where Van der Vaart was sold to Tottenham for a very favorable price for them.

2. If Tottenham decides to sell him, so they do not want to sell him to one of their direct rivals in the Premier League and thereby strengthen them. Therefore, they would much rather sell him abroad.

3. This is perhaps the main reason - Gareth Bale even have a desire to swap the white Tottenham jersey out with the mighty Real Madrid jersey.
